QT Device Firmware v1.0.5 Release

Turning Technologies is pleased to announce the release of the QT Device firmware v1.0.5.  Notable enhancements include the expanded response length capabilities for essay type questions in presentation mode only.  Longer response capabilities for essay questions in self-paced mode will be forthcoming with a TurningPoint update.
 
Enhancements: 

  • Added ability to use letter keys for responding to multiple choice and multiple response questions 
  • Extended length of essay responses from 160 to 512 characters in presentation mode
  • Added ability view more text for essay responses 
  • Tools button will now “wake up” device 

Fixes: 

  • Fixed question navigation in test mode for numeric and multiple response questions

Early next year an update for the Hardware Updater will be released to update existing QT Devices.  Additional information will be sent once the update is available.

WorkSpace v9.4/6.3 Release

Turning Technologies is pleased to announce the release of WorkSpace v6.3 for Mac, WorkSpace v9.4 for PC and the WorkSpace Connect v2.0 app.  All releases feature new branding, updated user guides, compatibility with the latest operation systems or software, and compatibility with our newest interactive whiteboard Touch Board Plus.  WorkSpace for Mac and PC includes an update to Device Manager v7.3.1, which enables compatibility with Touch Board Plus. 
 
Mac and PC versions are available to download on the downloads page. WorkSpace Connect for Android will be available shortly on the Google Play™ store.  Pending Apple® approval, the WorkSpace Connect app for Apple devices will also be available to download on the App Store℠.

Insight 360 v2.7 and Android Teacher App Release

Turning Technologies is pleased to announce the release of Insight 360 v2.7 to add support for Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite and overall performance improvements.  With the desktop release, Web Access has been updated with performance enhancements.  Accompanying Android™ Teacher App has also been released to provide use of the Teacher App on Android tablets (10 inches or larger).

Software is currently available for download on the update server.  Customers can also download the Android Teacher App from the Google Play Store.  Interested customers may visit http://www.turningtechnologies.com/downloads to download the latest trial versions of the desktop software.  

Highlights for the release include:

  • Official Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite support
  • Android Teacher App support for 10+ inch tablets 
  • Web Access enhancements for low bandwidth conditions and increased user feedback

ResponseWare Server Outage

Turning Account Update - 12/27 Scheduled Outage

Turning Technologies is releasing updates to the Turning Account server utilized for Turning Accounts, ResponseWare and our online student store.
 
In order to make the updates to the server and ensure our applications remain in a consistent state, Turning Accounts, ResponseWare and our student store will be offline between 9:00 PM - 10:00 PM EST on Saturday, December 27th.

Legacy Spark Clickers End of Life Notification

Turning Technologies is announcing the discontinuation of support and development of the following hardware products:

  • Spark Clicker (RF-N-PAD940-0001)
  • Spark 360 Clicker (RF-N-PAD960-0001)

The hardware products listed above will be available for purchase while supplies last until February 15, 2015. These products will remain compatible with legacy software, but will not be compatible with software released after August 15, 2015. Turning Technologies will still offer technical support for these products until February 15, 2018. 

Turning Technologies feels that the company’s newest line of response devices offers customers an extensive portfolio of hardware solutions.  Resources required to maintain and support the legacy hardware products listed above can be better allocated to enhancing existing and new products that more effectively fulfill market needs.

ResponseWare v2.1 Release

Turning Technologies is happy to announce the release of ResponseWare v2.1.

ResponseWare v2.1 is now available on the Google Play Store™. Pending Apple approval, accompanying ResponseWare v2.1 for iOS will be available to download via the App Store℠ shortly. (Apple device users can use the browser-based version until the app is approved.)  If ResponseWare users have auto-update functionality enabled on devices, no action is necessary. If not, a manual update must take place once the app sends a notification. If a participant opens the app without updating it, it will notify them that an update must occur to continue using the app.

Notes for ResponseWare v2.1 include:

  • Addressed connection timeouts and issues
  • Improved speed and reliability
  • Minor user interface changes to navigation menu

Turning Account v1.1 Release

Turning Technologies is happy to announce the release of Turning Account v1.1.

Turning Account v1.1 is updated and available at account.turningtechnologies.com.  For new users, new account creation will require e-mail verification and the ability to add license and device IDs during account creation.  New and existing users will see a revised interface, including a dashboard screen.  Support has been added to change or add e-mail addresses within accounts.

Notes for Turning Account v1.1 include:

  • New Account Creation process that requires e-mail verification
  • Ability to add License and Device ID on account creation
  • Dashboard displaying connection to LMS, if present.  If not present, instructions on how to connect display.
  • Simplified user interface
  • Redemption of account licenses directly from account
  • Support for one account to change or add e-mail addresses

TurningPoint Cloud v6.1 Release

Turning Technologies is happy to announce the release of TurningPoint Cloud v6.1.

TurningPoint Cloud v6.1 is only available on the Turning Account server at account.turningtechnologies.com.  TurningPoint Cloud v6.1 will also be updated for v6.0 customers that have automatic updates enabled. TurningPoint Cloud instructors that will be running ResponseWare sessions will be REQUIRED to update to the latest TurningPoint Cloud release.  Instructor Turning Accounts were previously notified with e-mail reminders of the impending, required update for use with ResponseWare.

Notes for TurningPoint Cloud v.6.1 include:

  • Added official support for OS X 10.10 (Yosemite) on Mac
  • Added Response Display window to show how individual users have responded
  • Added Attendance Poll that can be used to take a quick attendance multiple times during the presentation 
  • Added Cancel Last Poll button to delete the results from the last polled question
  • Added Attendance Report that displays if user was present/absent
  • Added Export Schemes available upon request for licensed accounts
  • Added Participant List update reminder in Results Manager
  • Added Participant List update count after update was made
  • Added Support for ResponseWare v2.1 enhancements 
  • Additional Messaging window option to display all messages in one message thread
  • Added second device merge functionality in Results Manager to merge all students’ responses who had responded during one session with multiple devices
  • Added support for new HID Long Range Receiver

TurningPoint v5.3.2 Release

Turning Technologies is happy to announce the release of TurningPoint v5.3.2.  Software is currently available to download on our downloads page.  Customers that have automatic updates enabled will receive the new version. Please note that is a PC only release and only includes minor bug fixes.  It is not a required update.
 
Notes for TurningPoint v5.3.2 include:

  • Addressed issues with PowerPoint Polling delaying opening of polling when connected to ResponseWare
  • Addressed international issue for English version of TurningPoint installed on a Korean or Chinese OS
  • Addressed several other, minor bugs

Suggested User Actions for Intermittent ResponseWare Session Issues

Our ResponseWare Team has identified three issues with ResponseWare that are currently affecting TurningPoint Cloud ResponseWare sessions and ResponseWare Student App usage. 

While our team is diligently working to resolve these issues as quickly as possible, we have also identified some actions users can take in order to address issues while running TurningPoint Cloud with ResponseWare.

1.)  Polling is open and responses are not being received.
Suggested Action: Instructors can repoll the previous question and move forward to the next slide.

2.)  Polling closes and chart does not display.
Suggested Action: Instructors can refresh the chart to display responses received.
NOTE: Not all responses may have been captured. 

3.)  ResponseWare feedback (student to instructor) is not displayed.
Suggested Action: Instructors can end current session and restart the same reserved session, or start a new random session ID.

ResponseCard XR2 Firmware v2.2.1 Release

Turning Technologies is happy to announce the release of new ResponseCard XR2 firmware, v2.2.1.  Firmware has been simplified to add a commonly requested feature.

All new ResponseCard XR2 orders will ship with the new firmware. Firmware is only available for new ResponseCard XR2 devices.  XR2 devices previously purchased will not be able to update to this firmware.

QuestionPoint End of Life Notification

Turning Technologies is announcing the discontinuation of support of QuestionPoint, an item bank of standards-based questions sorted by grade and subject.  QuestionPoint content is offered free of charge with purchases of TurningPoint student response systems.

QuestionPoint content will be available to download from our website until April 30, 2015.  However, Turning Technologies will continue to offer support for use of TurningPoint with QuestionPoint content.  

Turning Technologies feels that the continued development and support of the company’s ExamView Assessment Suite, ExamView Learning Series and latest release ExamView Cloud, offers advanced features and content in order to meet customer needs.  Turning Technologies believes the resources required to maintain the legacy application can be better allocated to enhance existing and develop new products that better fulfill market needs.
