Legacy Hardware End of Life Notification

Turning Technologies is announcing the discontinuation of support and development of the following hardware products:
  • ResponseCard NXT Backlight (RCXR-03)
  • Ping Clicker (RF-N-PAD971-0001)
The hardware products listed above will be available for purchase while supplies last until February 15, 2015. These products will remain compatible with legacy software, but will not be compatible with software released after August 15, 2015. Turning Technologies will still offer technical support for these products until February 15, 2016. 
 
Turning Technologies feels that the company’s newest line of response devices offers customers an extensive portfolio of hardware solutions. Resources required to maintain and support the legacy hardware products listed above can be better allocated to enhancing existing and new products that more effectively fulfill market needs.

Legacy Polling Software End of Life Notification

Turning Technologies is announcing the discontinuation of support of several legacy polling applications.  Software includes:
  • TurningPoint 2008
  • TurningPoint AnyWhere
  • TurningKey 
  • ResultsManager
All legacy applications will be available to download from our website until February 15, 2015. However, Turning Technologies will continue to offer support for these products until August 15th, 2015.
 
As of August, 2014, TurningPoint 5 is currently translated into French, German and Spanish.  All language versions not available in TurningPoint 5 will continue to be supported in TurningPoint 2008 until the translated versions have been released.
 
Turning Technologies feels that the continued development and support of the company’s latest releases, TurningPoint Cloud and TurningPoint v5.3.1, offers advanced features in order to meet customer needs.  Both current TurningPoint versions include a dashboard interface that gives users the ability to easily access functionality found in the above legacy applications.  The dashboard provides instant management of polling, participants, content, sessions and reports to consolidate the multiple products into one software application for an enhanced user experience.
 
Turning Technologies believes the resources required to maintain the legacy applications can be better allocated to enhance existing and develop new products that better fulfill market needs.

Registration Sites End of Life Notification

Turning Technologies is announcing the discontinuation of student device registration sites that supported TurningPoint 2008:
  • student.turningtechnologies.com 
  • instructor.turningtechnologies.com
All sites will remain active until February 15, 2015, at which point both sites will be re-directed to the unified Turning Account system available at account.turningtechnologies.com.  Support will no longer be offered following the re-direct of the sites.
 
Turning Technologies feels that the continued development and support of the Turning Account system will streamline the registration process for students and provide simplified class management for instructors.  Turning Accounts are available for both instructors and students.  Each account provides a unique identifier for the user and can be tied to TurningPoint Cloud software, response devices and web applications, including ResponseWare 2.0.  Turning Accounts are free for instructors.  Students must purchase a Turning Account license to use in TurningPoint Cloud classrooms.
 
If campuses are standardized on TurningPoint Cloud, instructors and students using LMS platforms are encouraged to check their portals to access the Turning Account integration link.  Non-LMS users can sign-up for Turning Accounts at account.turningtechnologies.com. 
 
Turning Technologies believes the resources required to maintain the legacy registration sites can be better allocated to enhance the existing Turning Account server and additional features that better fulfill market needs.

Insight 360 v2.6 Release

Turning Technologies is happy to announce the release of Insight 360 v2.6 for both PC and Mac, available for download on the update server.  The latest version offers support for integration with Pearson Schoolnet v16.1.  Teachers can deliver Schoolnet assessments, collect and transfer results seamlessly into the Schoolnet platform.   
 
Highlights for the Insight v2.6 release include:
  • Integration with Pearson Schoolnet v16.1 to perform the following tasks:
    • Import class rosters from a Schoolnet account
    • Import assessments from a Schoolnet account
    • Take self-paced tests in Insight 360 using imported assessments
    • Upload assessment results to a Schoolnet account

ResponseWare Session Connection Issue

Yesterday our DNS provider, GoDaddy, experienced a DNS outage that lasted approximately 1.5 hours (10:00 - 11:30 EDT).

During this time, the resolution of DNS names (turningtechnologies.com and others) was negatively impacted in multiple regions around the globe.  While all of our systems remained active, it is likely that they were unavailable to customers in affected regions.  This outage may have affected your availability to start or connect to a ResponseWare session. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

GoDaddy has now restored service to the affected regions and our services should once again be available worldwide.

TurningPoint Cloud v6.0.1 Release

Turning Technologies is happy to announce the release of TurningPoint Cloud v6.0.1, currently available on the Turning Account server. The latest version addresses identified issues for an enhanced user experience.  Current users are encouraged to download the latest version in order to alleviate any potential issues, including use with learning management systems (LMS).

Notes for the PC release include:

  • Resolved “Error communicating with the Turning Account Server” that occurred during download of large participant lists 
  • Fixed issue preventing PowerPoint keyboard shortcuts from working correctly 

Notes for the Mac release include:

  • Resolved “Error communicating with the Turning Account Server” that occurred during download of large participant lists 
  • Fixed issue preventing the download of a ResponseWare Device ID when no other Device ID is registered 

Software downloads of TurningPoint Cloud is only available through the creation of a Turning Account at account.turningtechnologies.com.  TurningPoint Cloud v6.0.1 will also be updated for v6.0 customers that have automatic updates enabled.

Turning Account Server Update

Turning Technologies is happy to announce the release of updates to Turning Account v1.0.3, currently available on the Turning Account website. The latest version includes user interface enhancements that will allow for easier navigation among tabs and licensing options.  Both instructor and participant account interfaces will be affected with the update but no further action is necessary.

Notes for the release include:

  • Added a Redeem button in the License section to directly access the scratch-off page for students 
  • Changed the location of the Turning Account license message for students 
  • Concurrent licenses can now be added to accounts before they are created. When the account is created the license will be applied automatically. 
  • Added a maintenance message to notify the user of scheduled updates 
  • Available participant lists are not displayed until searching 

Updates will be visible on the Turning Account server at account.turningtechnologies.com.

ResponseWare Server Outage

Please note that the ResponseWare server is currently experiencing technical difficulties. The issues will affect the ability to start or connect to a ResponseWare session at this time.  We are working to resolve these issues as quickly as possible and will inform customers when the issues have been resolved and when ResponseWare sessions are able to be run again.

Amazon Web Service Scheduled Maintenance - Products Affected

Amazon Web Services is performing maintenance this weekend, including scheduled reboots of instances utilizing database services, utilized for Turning Accounts, ResponseWare our online student store.

In order to accommodate the maintenance schedule and ensure our applications remain in a consistent state, Turning Accounts, ResponseWare and our student store will be offline between 1:30 AM - 8:30 AM EST on Saturday, September 27th.

Turning Account v1.0.4 Release

Turning Technologies is happy to announce the release of updates to Turning Account v1.0.4, currently available on the Turning Account website. The latest version includes updates with further instructions for new users and interaction with learning management systems.  Both instructor and participant account interfaces will be affected with the update but no further action is necessary.

Notes for the release include:

  • Added new user instructions to the account login screen 
  • Removed the pre-populated e-mail address for LMS users when creating new accounts 
  • Resolved an intermittent error that occurred when accounts were being created simultaneously 
  • Addressed an error that could occur when changing a password to a previously used password from the same account 
  • Updates will be visible on the Turning Account server at account.turningtechnologies.com.

Turning Account v1.0.5 Release

Turning Account v1.0.5 was released on Sunday, 10/19 to reflect ongoing improvements to the Turning Account system. The latest version includes updates to the Turning Account sign in page and an enhanced user experience.  Both instructor and participant account interfaces will be affected with the update, but no further action is necessary.

Notes for the release include:

  • Removal of New User Higher Education information from the account sign in page
  • Reformatting of the accounts on the server for quicker participant list downloads and updates from TurningPoint Cloud
  • Removal of the case sensitivity of email addresses in licensing invites
